Genetic Production Technician

At AcuFast, we believe the best way to predict the future is to create it and that’s exactly what we’re doing with the launch of our new, state-of-the-art research and production farm in Watertown, Wisconsin. As we continue to grow, we’re looking for a Genetic Production Technician who’s ready to be part of something meaningful and hands-on. If you enjoy physical, practical work, have an eye for detail, and take pride in animal care and equipment maintenance, we want to hear from you. We empower our people by supporting and encouraging them to grow personally as well as professionally. We are currently looking for a permanent full-time Production Technician with a maintenance background for our Watertown, Wisconsin location.

 

This position will include the following responsibilities and day-to-day functions, but is not limited to:

  • Adhere to feed budgets to ensure optimal nutrition and economic efficiency.
  • Oversee and optimize feed distribution processes.
  • Promptly address and resolve feed-related issues.
  • Ensure a constant supply of clean water for livestock.
  • Monitor and adjust ventilation and temperature systems.
  • Administer necessary treatments.
  • Conduct regular health checks and respond to signs of illness promptly.
  • Collaborate closely with veterinary professionals.
  • Regularly weigh market hogs and maintain accurate weight records.
  • Utilize data analysis to assess and enhance growth performance.
  • Safely and efficiently move pigs within the barn.
  • Skillfully load pigs onto trailers for transport.
  • Provide support in other departments when needed.
  • Foster effective communication within the team for seamless operations.
  • Learn all equipment functions.
  • Test and adjust repaired equipment for proper performance
  • Working in a safe manner while performing all job duties,
  • Performing other general farm duties as required.

 

The successful candidate would ideally possess the following experience and qualifications:

  • Outstanding organizational skills and demonstrates attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Able to manage priorities and solve problems.
  • Maintenance background in a farm or animal production background.
  • Excellent pig-handling skills.
  • Self-motivated and reliable.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Shares in AcuFast’s core values.
